Korea’s SK Telecom to battle iPhone with Android offerings

Korean Telecom SK plans to release 10 new Android based smartphones over the next few months to battle against the iPhone released by its rival KT Telecom.
The “anti-iPhone force,” as SK’s team has been dubbed by the Korean Herald, aims to use Android platform phones to make waves of excitement ripple through the market in hopes of becoming a major Korean player, pushing the iPhone from KT Telecom aside.
But KT Telecom, sources say, will launch a counter offensive, purportedly preparing to arm their Android based offerings with hundreds of apps. After all, as the iPhone has repeatedly proven, apps are the answer and content is king.
With a plethora of Android phones already released in Febuary by both Korean telcos, this month is expected to see a further Android surge, with the likes of LG and Samsung due to unleash more models on to the Korean streets.
It is time to keep score, as these two telecom giants go head to head.
