Juice squeezes $2.3M in funding

Juice Wireless hauled in $2.3 million from Qualcomm Inc. and 21 Ventures as part of a second funding round, according to a Juice representative.
The New York-based startup is hoping to tap the user-generated content market with JuiceCaster, a cross-platform offering that allows users to create videos on mobile phones and distribute them to social networking sites. The company also has deployed mobile marketing programs for customers including AOL, Hearst, Procter & Gamble Co. and Sony Corp.
The move underscores Qualcomm’s support of mobile video in an effort to sell more 3G hardware.
Juice said it will use the cash to pursue carrier relationships and support its JuiceCaster service. Under terms of the deal, Qualcomm will name an independent director to Juice’s board.
