Wireless technology and content company Enpocket scored its second major acquisition, announcing the purchase of Helsinki-based mobile technology company Mobicus for an undisclosed amount. The firm said the acquisition would expand its customer roster and its technology offerings.
“We are thrilled to be acquiring Mobicus whose technical solutions are unrivalled and deliver successfully for many of the largest international marketers and carriers,” said Jonathon Linner, Enpocket’s chief executive officer. “By merging our technologies and experience we create a world-class mobile solutions business that provides our customers with everything they need to make marketing more effective.”
Founded in 2000, Mobicus offers text messaging, multimedia messaging and Java applications. The company counts Radiolinja, Orange France subsidiary Mobile & Permission, Sonera Zed and others as customers. Enpocket said it uses elements of Mobicus’ technology in its Enpocket Engine.
Enpocket late last year acquired wireless marketing company SkyGo for an undisclosed amount. Enpocket offers wireless advertising products and other wireless applications and services.
In other acquisition news, Access Propeller Holdings Inc. of Helsinki announced it acquired a majority ownership of Small Planet Ltd., which offers wireless chat services and other downloadable applications. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. The deal follows the approval of Small Planet’s restructuring plan by the District Court of Helsinki. Small Planet said the deal will help it expand its business into the North American market.
