Mobile Entertainment Forum adds new members

LONDON-EMI Music, Downplay, In-Fusio, Omni Entertainment, MmO2, Qualcomm Inc. and Sun Microsystems Inc. are among the newest members of the Mobile Entertainment Forum, the group announced. The organization said the caliber of its new members is further evidence of its position as the leading trade association for the mobile entertainment space.

“The high quality of these new members demonstrates that MEF is the leading forum shaping mobile entertainment,” said Patrick Parodi, vice chairperson of the MEF. “Our initiatives and increased visibility have convinced key players in the traditional media industry to join MEF and help shape the future of mobile entertainment. This is very gratifying as this was one of the goals set by the MEF Board early last year.”

During 2003, the organization worked to publish white papers, produce a glossary of accepted terminology, create networking opportunities and raise the overall visibility of mobile entertainment.

“I think that the mobile music area will become an increasingly important revenue stream for music companies in 2004, so we are pleased to take a pro-active part in the future of mobile entertainment,” said John Rose, executive vice president of record company EMI.
