BOYNTON BEACH, Fla.-In a move that will cost 240 jobs, Motorola Inc. said it plans to shut down a Florida plant for cell-phone design.
The company said the closing will affect 375 workers, although 135 of them will be deployed to other offices.
The laid-off workers, who were told Wednesday, will receive a severance package, said Motorola. The vendor has slashed about half its staff since the downturn began in 2000.
