David Parker has been promoted to managing director at Daniels & Associates. Parker is a member of the firm’s Telecommunications Group and is responsible for advising communications service providers and telecom infrastructure companies on mergers & acquisitions and corporate financing. He has been with the company for 10 years.
Navteq
Amreesh Modi has been appointed senior vice president and chief technology officer of Navteq. Modi will be based in Chicago and oversee technology strategy and research and development. Previously, Modi held technology leadership positions at Motorola Inc.
Andrew
Andrew Corp. elected Gerald A. Poch as nonexecutive chairman of its board of directors. He replaces Charles R. Nicholas, who retired. Poch has been and independent director on Andrew’s board since 2002. He is a managing director of Pequot Capital Management Inc.
IP Unity Glenayre
Following its acquisition of Glenayre Technologies Inc., IP Unity announced its new executive team. Arun Sobti is chairman and CEO; Bruce Bales is president; Bob Swedroe is CFO; Sonny Bettis is CTO; Keith Bhatia is SVP of sales for the Americas region as well as general manager of Japan; Nigel Waller is SVP of sales for EMEA and Asia Pacific; Stan Little is SVP of marketing and business development; and Piyush Modi is SVP of engineering.

BCGI named Joseph Mullaney its new chief financial officer. He joins BCGI from SofTech Inc., where he held positions including CEO, CFO and president.
Sunrise Telecom
Sunrise Telecom Inc. appointed Peter Moulds as its new vice president of North American sales. He succeeds Robert Heintz, who is transitioning to the post of vice president of worldwide sales and marketing. Previously, Moulds has held positions with Ascend Communications, Larscom and Hewlett-Packard.
Cellfire
Ken Karnes has been named vice president of retail sales for Cellfire, a mobile couponing service. Karnes will be responsible for developing and maintaining retailer relationships. Most recently Karnes was vice president of business development for AVDO, a direct mail media company.
TI
Texas Instruments promoted Greg Delagi to senior vice president and head of the company’s wireless terminals unit. Delagi is replacing Gilles Delfassey, who is retiring after 28 years with the company. Delagi has been with TI for 22 years.
Perlego
Perlego Systems Inc., a hosted mobile device lifecycle management company, announced Frank Costa has been named CEO. Prior to joining the company, Costa held executive positions with Active Voice Corp., Mentor Graphics Corp. and Intel Corp.
Valista
Arlene Adams has been named CEO of Valista. The company’s current CEO and founder, Raomal Perera, will become executive chairman of the company. Adams has been with Valista since 2006, most recently as vice president of international sales. Prior to joining the company, Adams held positions with Sun Microsystems and IBM.
CTIA
CTIA-The Wireless Association said Syniverse Technologies’ president and CEO Tony Holcombe has been elected to the association’s executive committee.
Obopay
Mobile payment company Obopay named Dave Johnson as its new CFO. John’s 30 years of financial experience includes positions with PayPal Inc., BancAmerica Securities, BankAmerica Europe, Middle East and Africa Group, and Washington Mutual Capital Corp.
Google
Google Inc. named Richard S. Whitt as its Washington telecom and media counsel. He will be responsible for the company’s wireline, wireless and media advocacy before the Federal Communications Commission, Congress and other federal agencies. Previously, Whitt headed NetsEdge Consulting L.L.C., a public policy consulting firm that he founded.
Crisp Wireless
Crisp Wireless said it expanded its executive management team with the addition of Debra Bluman as vice president of product marketing. She will lead the company’s marketing efforts for its mLogic platform. Previously, Bluman was vice president of marketing and ad sales for Zingy.
Wireless Zone
Wireless Zone named Sean Fitzgerald as its first national vice president of franchise development, where he will be responsible for driving a major Midwest expansion and a program to grow the company’s presence to 400 stores in 400 business days. Previously, Fitzgerald led the operational and franchise development of StrollerFit Inc. and prior to that he founded and served as COO of an automotive aftermarket franchise chain.
Envox
Envox Worldwide promoted David Baker to vice president of sales for Envox Americas. He joined the company in April 2006 as northeast regional sales manager. Prior to that he was vice president of sales for HTI Voice Solutions.
Shared Spectrum
Shared Spectrum Co. announced Michael Gallagher, the former director of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, will chair the company’s advisory board. The board will advise the company on financial, business, technology and public policy issues as it prepares to market its cognitive radio technology later this year.
Convergys
James Orr, chairman and CEO of Convergys Corp., plans to retire at the end of this year, and the company’s board of directors has elected David Dougherty to become president and CEO. Dougherty currently is president and COO. Orr joined Convergys predecessor Cincinnati Bell Inc. in 1988 and became the company’s first CEO in 1998. Dougherty joined the company in 1990 and has held the president and COO positions since 2005.
