Mobile media company Mobifusion Inc. said it picked up $3.1 million in its first round of venture funding.
Mobifusion targets carriers and publishers with a content-delivery platform designed to increase customer acquisition and loyalty. Backers in the initial round included Emergic Ventures, Ingram Digital Group, Global Asia Partners and an undisclosed “major telecom company” in India.
Under terms of the deal, executives from Global Asia Partners and Ingram Digital Group were appointed to Mobifusion’s board of directors. The Fremont, Calif.-based company said it will use the cash to expand sales efforts and fuel product development.
“This round of financing marks a significant milestone for Mobifusion at a time when the mobile content market is experiencing tremendous growth,” said CEO Pavan Mandhani. “We believe there’s a strong demand for premium mobile content that is easy to access, reliable and affordable, and intend to use these funds to further grow our business.”
