InfoSpace loses ruling in battle with founder

BELLEVUE, Wash.-A superior court judge ruled largely against wireless and Internet technology company InfoSpace Inc. in its legal battle with Naveen Jain, its founder and former chief executive officer.

InfoSpace last year filed suit against Jain and Kevin Marcus, the company’s former chief software architect, alleging they misappropriated InfoSpace trade secrets and confidential information and wrongfully interfered with the company’s contractual relationships.

A Washington superior court ruled Jain and Marcus didn’t steal trade secrets or interfere with InfoSpace’s business. However, the court said a jury would decide whether Jain breached the non-solicitation provision of his agreement with InfoSpace. The court also said Jain did not return InfoSpace property.

InfoSpace said it will appeal parts of the ruling.
