KING of PRUSSIA, Pa.-InterDigital Communications Corp. said its InterDigital Technology Corp. subsidiary signed a nonexclusive worldwide royalty-bearing patent license agreement with Taiwan’s High Tech Computer Corp. The agreement covers the sale of wireless terminals and infrastructure built to IS-136/GSM/GPRS/EDGE and W-CDMA/CDMA2000/TD-SCDMA standards.
“This agreement expands our 3G licensee base, marks our progress in entering new geographical markets and confirms our ability to license our patented inventions across multiple standards and a broad range of mobile wireless devices and manufacturers,” said ITC President William Merritt.
InterDigital also has licensing agreements with L.M. Ericsson and Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications Inc. However, both Nokia Corp. and Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. have asked for mediation through the International Chamber of Commerce, International Court of Arbitration for disagreements with InterDigital over licensing fees. The companies claim they do not owe InterDigital royalties.
