HP, KT enter wireless Internet alliance

SEOUL, North Korea-Hewlett-Packard Co. said it has entered into a wireless Internet alliance with KT Corp., South Korea’s biggest fixed-line and broadband firm.

KT said the alliance will enable both companies to jointly develop handsets that converge broadband Internet and mobile telecommunications. The services will enhance KT’s wireless Internet service known as NESPOT-Swing through laptops, mobile phones and personal digital assistants.

KT, which has 31 percent of its mobile market through mobile operator KTF, wants to leverage its position as having the biggest high-speed Internet penetration rate in the world.
