MUNICH, Germany-Siemens AG said GSM infrastructure is part of a “triple-digit million of euros” contract it signed with Nigerian carrier Globacom Ltd. The contract also includes a nationwide optical network and fixed-line networks in the southwest of Nigeria, as well as GSM networks for more than 20 cities and roads in the northern part of Nigeria.
Siemens said it will provide GSM base stations and switching technology for 1 million subscribers for the operator. Globacom’s expanded GSM network will have a capacity of 2.5 million subscribers once completed.
