The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

    Cellular

  • Nigeria: Motorola Inc. said it won a contract valued at $75 million to expand M-tel’s GSM network.
    Wi-Fi
  • United States: MobilePro Corp. subsidiary Kite Networks completed the first phase of a deployment in Longmont, Colo., of a Wi-Fi mesh network using equipment from Tropos Networks. Also in the United States, Lok Technology Inc. provided its LokBox appliance for CenturyTel’s Wi-Fi deployment in Vail, Colo.

  • Isle of Wight: Aperto Networks said Wight Cable 2005 Ltd. has launched a package of new broadband wireless services using Aperto’s 5.8 GHz equipment.
    Miscellaneous
  • Bahrain: 5G Wireless Communications Inc. said it signed a $6 million contract with AngelWireless to provide it with broadband wireless equipment.
