Pssst. Want a deal on Sprint Nextel plans?

OVERLAND PARK, Kan.-Sprint Nextel Corp. is quietly sweetening service deals for a limited time during the holiday season by offering the public the same deals on service that it gives customers who are referred by its employees.
Of course, it takes a bit of digging and a secret password (or in this case, e-mail address) to get in on the offer, which popped up on telecom-focused message board Howard Forums. The Sprint Employee Referral Pricing Web site offers a trio of discounted plans starting at $30 for 500 minutes, $50 for 1,250 minutes, and $100 for 2,500 minutes. Regular pricing for similar plans are $40 for 450 anytime minutes, $80 for 1,350 minutes, and $100 per month for 2,000 minutes.
The plans are single-line only, and include unlimited night and weekend calling beginning at 7 p.m., unlimited on-network calling and unlimited Vision or Power Vision service. A two-year contract is required. Wireless data plans are also available through the site.
Sprint Nextel representatives were not immediately available to comment on the offer and any accompanying advertising. The offer runs through Dec. 18.
