Leap launches in K.C.

SAN DIEGO—Leap Wireless International Inc. launched its Cricket wireless service in the Kansas City metropolitan area.

The company said customers in the Kansas City region will have a calling area covering 1,407 square miles in parts of Missouri and Kansas. The service will be available through three Cricket retail stores, 40 indirect retailers and 33 premier dealers in the market. Leap said it plans to open a fourth Cricket retail store in the Kansas City area soon.

Leap said the launch covers about 1.6 million new potential customers and brings its total potential customer base to 42 million nationwide.
