The following list details this week’s infrastructure awards for the cellular, Wi-Fi and WiMAX industries. The contracts are broken down by transmission technology, country and vendor. The value of the contract is included when available.

Cellular
- Bulgaria: Nokia Corp. said it won a contract with Vivatel to expand the carrier’s GSM coverage as well as to supply GSM/EDGE/W-CDMA/HSDPA radio network and 3G core network equipment.
- China: Nokia said it signed a GSM expansion contract with Yunnan Mobile Communication Co. Ltd. The contract is valued at $63 million.
- Colombia: Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. said it won a GSM core network expansion contract with Colombia Movil. The expansion will bring the network’s capacity to more than 560,000 users in the cities of Medellin, Cali, Bucaramanga, Barranquilla and Bogota.
- Hong Kong: Nokia said it signed a contract with CSL to provide HSDPA equipment to the carrier.
- Taiwan: L.M. Ericsson said it won a contract with FarEasTone to upgrade the carrier’s 3G network with HSPA technology, and to provide technology for multimedia offerings such as music and video on phones.
- Uruguay: Huawei said it has been selected to deploy a UMTS network for the Administracion Nacional de Telecomunicaciones,
Wi-Fi
- Egypt: Lucent Technologies Inc. said it signed an agreement with TeleTech to deploy a trial broadband wireless network designed to deliver high-speed data services to schools under the Egyptian Educational Initiative.
WiMAX
- Greece: Craig Wireless has selected Nortel Networks Ltd. to supply a fixed WiMAX solution to cover four cities, including Athens.
- New Zealand: Alvarion Ltd. said it won a contract with CallPlus to supply its BreezeMAX 3500 solution to offer WiMAX service in the southeast parts of the country.

- Russia: Golden Telecom is expanding its optical network in the country using equipment provided by Nortel Networks.
