SAN FRANCISCO—Mobileplay Inc. said it launched an advertising-supported service that provides free access to news, games, lifestyle content and location-based services on wireless devices.
The service supports personal digital assistants, smart phones, wireless e-mail devices and Java-enabled cell phones, said the company. Mobileplay said its service also offers features such as article sharing, buddy lists and content caching for offline viewing.
Users can download the free application at the company’s Web site and can receive immediate access to the company’s content portfolio, said Mobileplay.
The company has content partnerships with companies including BusinessWeek Online, Fodor’s, Salon.com, The Onion, TheSportingNews.com, USA Today, Washingtonpost.com and Wired.com. Advertisers include Acura and Microsoft Corp.
