Bits & Bytes: American Roamer’s new GCA version; Machines talk with Cisco; and more

InfiNet Wireless, manufacturer and provider of carrier-grade wireless infrastructure solutions, announced that LCR Honda has selected its InfiMan 2×2 wireless solution to provide a mobile team communications infrastructure for its race-day locations. Both engineering and mechanical teams rely on high-speed, high-capacity communications connections to provide real-time track-side information such as the analysis of racing data, complex vehicle and driver performance analytics as well as weather forecasts and live video images from the race.

Cisco announced the latest addition to its core routing infrastructure portfolio: the Cisco 819 Integrated Services Router (ISR) Machine-to-Machine Gateway. American Roamer, announced the latest version of Global Coverage Analyzer (GCA), the company’s cloud-based interactive mapping application for viewing and comparing 2G, 3G and 4G mobile network coverage in more than 200 countries worldwide. GCA now includes an optional feature to view mobile network coverage in multiple countries simultaneously. Read more.

Nokia announced the launch of three smartphones with Symbian Belle. The Nokia 700, Nokia 701 and Nokia 600 include single-tap NFC technology. Nokia is also announcing the launch of the Nokia Essence Bluetooth Stereo Headset, which can be paired with any NFC-enabled smartphone by tapping the two devices together. Read more.

Red Bend Software announced that Samsung Electronics has licensed Red Bend’s full suite of MSM solutions, including vRapid Mobile for software management and firmware over-the-air updating (FOTA) and vDirect Mobile for device management. Samsung also has deployed Red Bend’s software in its Galaxy Tab line of tablets.

Alcatel-Lucent and China Mobile anounced that the companies have staged the first mobile broadband video call over a next-generation 4G LTE mobile network, to connect a fixed location and a car in Shanghai with Alcatel-Lucent offices in New Jersey. Read more.
