Swisscom subsidiary acquires Swapcom

BERN, Switzerland—Swisscom Mobile subsidiary Sicap, which provides mobile applications and network products for GSM operators, said it acquired Swapcom in a deal Sicap said strengthens its position in the mobile device management, SMS/MMS Hub management and content management spaces.

Swapcom, which has headquarters in France, specializes in server-side mobile architecture. Sicap said the deal also gives it direct access to markets in Africa and the Middle East where Swapcom has relationships.

The companies have a total of 190 employees and annual turnover of about $54 million.
