WARREN, N.J.—Virgin Mobile USA L.L.C. is expanding it customers’ ability to earn free airtime by launching a prepaid Visa debit card that will be linked to Virgin Mobile USA phones.
The “Stash” prepaid debit card will be issued by Inter National Bank and is offered through NetSpend, which processes and markets reloadable debit cards. Features include peer-to-peer money transfers, online account management, a savings program and text alerts to the phone to manage spending and prevent fraud, according to Virgin Mobile USA.
According to the Stash Web site, users will earn one reward point for each dollar spent using the debit card, and the reward points can be exchanged for airtime. Only Virgin Mobile USA users can earn the points, and the points are automatically lost if the customer allows their Virgin Mobile USA account to expire.
