ATLANTA—Cingular Wireless L.L.C. announced plans to offer an upgraded push e-mail service for business users with Microsoft Corp. Windows Mobile-enabled devices.
The service, which is set to launch next week, pushes e-mail messages as well as calendar items, tasks and contact information from Microsoft’s Exchange Server to wireless handsets. The offering also features over-the-air password policy enforcement.
Two devices are initially scheduled to support the service at launch: Subscribers with the Cingular 8100 series Pocket PC—which features a full keyboard—can access the service for $45 a month with a qualifying voice and data plan. Users with the Cingular 2125 Smartphone—which lacks a keyboard—and qualifying voice plan will be charged $30.
The software can be downloaded from Cingular’s Web site beginning Monday.
