CHICAGO-Agere Systems launched a suite of chips and software called TrueONE during the Globalcomm trade show last week, saying the new solutions are designed to deliver voice, data, and both Internet Protocol TV and high-definition TV services to homes, businesses and mobile users over a single truly converged public and premise network.
Agere explained that while its PayloadPlus network processors, which combines IP processing and traffic management, provide the brains of TrueONE, its Gigabit Ethernet switching chips form the heart of the solution. Designed for switching triple-play services, the chips also facilitate in-home high-definition TV delivery over Ethernet technology, Agere said.
TrueONE lets service providers offer more levels of differentiated, high-margin, billable services at various pricing tiers by offering remote, on-demand, precise control, monitoring and re-configuration based on real-time customer needs.
In other Agere news, the company announced deals with both L.M Ericsson and NEC Corp. for its Advanced PayloadPlus 300 processor chips and software for third-generation network equipment.
Ericsson said it plans to use the APP300 technology in its new VDSL2 product line, while NEC said it will use the product in its 3G Node B infrastructure.
