OTTAWA, Canada-Mobile Voice over Internet Protocol software developer SIPquest said it picked up $7 million during its third round of funding, money that comes as the company works to rename itself FirstHand Technologies.
FirstHand sells mobile client and server software through equipment vendors, systems integrators and service providers to extend communications services directly onto mobile phones. The company said it plans to use the funding to accelerate market traction of its mobile client and server software offerings. The software is available for Research In Motion Ltd., Symbian, Nokia Corp.’s Series 60 and Microsoft Corp.’s Windows Mobile smart phones to screen incoming calls, check the availability of co-workers and various other functions.
