ESPOO, Finland-ATI Technologies Inc. and Nokia Corp. announced that the two firms have entered a long-term strategic partnership to enable multimedia experiences such as 3D gaming and mobile TV on the Finnish vendors’ handsets.
The partnership will promote open standards to attract the interest of application developers, and ATI said it would provide software development kits this fall. The two firms said they would hold joint developer workshops in the second half of the year to familiarize developers with the environment.
“We are announcing our collaboration with ATI now,” said Ilkka Raiskinen, senior vice president of multimedia experiences at Nokia, “so that developers have the next 12 to 18 months” to develop multimedia applications.
