AOL to sell Internet access over Clearwire

DULLES, Va.—AOL L.L.C. is teaming with Craig McCaw’s Clearwire Corp. to offer high-speed wireless broadband access.

The service, which is available starting for $26 a month, has been deployed in three mid-sized Clearwire markets in California and Florida. Subscribers can access the Internet using licensed spectrum while in Clearwire coverage areas via a wireless modem.

“This truly complementary relationship offers customers access to AOL’s premium safety and security features and content with a simple, fast wireless connection,” said Ben Wolff, Clearwire’s chief strategy officer.
