NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif.-Walt Disney Internet Group is making more noise in advance of the launch of its planned mobile virtual network operator service this summer.
In February, the company launched a registration Web site for its Disney Mobile service. The site allows interested consumers to sign up for updates about the service.
Last week, the company started a promotion that gives consumers a chance to win two Disney Mobile handsets and a year of service. Registered members of the Disney Mobile Web site are automatically entered in each weekly drawing, according to an e-mail sent to registered members of the site.
Registered users also can receive a limited-edition phone when they become a subscriber to the service, according to the e-mail.
Disney Mobile has so far offered little in the way of information for its upcoming MVNO service, including its services plans and handsets. Despite that, industry prognosticators have high hopes for the Disney MVNO because the Disney brand scores high with the mass market.
