M Theory to bring reality to wireless

LOS ANGELES-Bunim-Murray Productions, which is often credited with starting the reality TV phenomenon with the MTV hit “The Real World” more than a decade ago, launched a spinoff focused on new media initiatives, including mobile and Internet.

The spinoff, called M Theory Entertainment, will have a double focus on developing fresh content as well as retuning existing programming for the Internet and mobile devices, said the company. BMP said projects already in the works include more than 30 mobisodes of “The Simple Life,” which will be available exclusively through Verizon Wireless’ Vcast service. The company also said it has forged agreements to produce original content for mobile virtual network operator Amp’d Mobile Inc. and mobile content aggregator Proteus.

M Theory is a wholly owned subsidiary of BMP and will be headed by Joachim Blunck, who is senior vice president of digital content at the company.
