RESTON, Va.-Nextel Communications Inc. said it has signed a service level agreement with Verizon Communications Inc. outlining the processes the carriers will follow when porting phone numbers following the local number portability mandate Nov. 24.
The agreement defines port validation standards and procedures to be followed when customers port their landline-to-wireless or wireless-to-landline numbers between Nextel and Verizon or when porting their wireless-to-wireless numbers between Nextel and Verizon Wireless.
Verizon noted the agreement with Nextel was the second SLA is has signed with a wireless carrier following an earlier agreement with Verizon Wireless.
