SAN DIEGO-Qualcomm Inc. said its W-CDMA chipset known as MSM6200 has been tested and validated by 13 worldwide infrastructure vendors.
“Qualcomm’s chipset solution is the first to achieve voice, circuit and packet data interoperability with all W-CDMA infrastructure vendors, enabling a wide range of handset manufacturers to offer wireless devices that will seamlessly operate on any W-CDMA network in the world,” said Qualcomm.
The company also announced that Toshiba has selected its MSM6250 mobile station modem chipset and software for its third-generation handsets.
The solution supports Qualcomm’s suite of technologies like MPEG-4 video encoding/decoding, JPEG encoding/decoding, MP3/AAC audio decoding, a 2D/3D graphics accelerator for advanced gaming applications, a MIDI synthesizer and a digital camera interface.
“With this agreement, we are committing to provide consumers worldwide with a variety of affordable, exciting 3G multimedia handsets that support attractive data features,” said Seiji Yasunaga, chief marketing executive at Toshiba.
