TCS updates gateway to guard against spam

ANNAPOLIS, Md.-TeleCommunication Systems Inc. announced the latest release of its Wireless Internet Gateway (WIG) at this week’s CTIA Wireless IT show in Las Vegas.

Version 4.1 of the gateway incorporates anti-spam technology to guard against mobile spam. TCS’ anti-spam solution incorporates techniques, including white lists, black lists, blocking, denial of service detection, throttling, pattern matching and known spammer lists.

“TCS’ objective with our most recent Wireless Internet Gateway incorporating the added spam defense system was to stay one step ahead of the spammers-while offering control to both the carrier and subscribers,” explained Tim Lorello, chief marketing officer at TCS. “Wireless carriers can limit the ability of particular sources to send messages to its subscribers, while individual end users can choose which messages to accept and which messages to block. This strategy allows us to create an environment that is reliable, flexible, extensible-and affordable.”
