AUSTIN, Texas-Motorola Inc. said it has extended its deal with ARM Ltd. to license the ARM1136J core and the ARM1136JF core for smart phones and personal digital assistants.
The ARM products “feature a combination of high performance, low power, small size, high-code density and powerful instruction set architecture to target next-generation, high-volume products across a broad range of market applications,” said Motorola.
In another chip development, Telson Electronics selected Emblaze Semiconductor to provide multimedia processors for it CDMA and GSM/GPRS phones.
The chips offer such applications as video steaming, full-color display, integrated still and video camera, Internet browsing, personal information management, gaming and messaging services.
“It is the first mobile phone to provide video streaming capabilities in Thailand and one of the first in the Thai market to run on the CDMA 1x network, which has higher capabilities enabling multimedia and entertainment functions,” said the companies.
