MOSCOW-Lucent Technologies Inc. said it has won a contract to supply Russian GSM 900/1800 MHz operator MegaFon with its multi-service packet network to enable the carrier to combine voice and data traffic.
Under the agreement, Lucent will supply MegaFon with its PSAX 1250 and 4500 platforms. The first phase will be completed in the fourth quarter of 2003, and further work will be done in 2004.
“The multiservice network based on the Lucent solution will enable MegaFon to optimize the routing of voice and data traffic in its national network, while providing subscribers from various regions of Russia with access to the entire range of services offered by the company,” said Aleksey Nechiporenko, deputy managing director of MegaFon.
