STOCKHOLM, Sweden-TeliaSonera said it reached an agreement with Motorola Lithuania Telecom to acquire Motorola’s 35-percent shareholding in Lithuanian mobile operator UAB Omnitel. TeliaSonera will pay $117 million for Motorola’s shares, and TeliaSonera will own 90 percent of the operator following the close of the acquisition.
Motorola will continue to supply Omnitel with infrastructure equipment and handsets, TeliaSonera said in a statement. The Nordic operator has said it plans to strengthen its position in the Nordic and Baltic markets.
UAB Omnitel has 905,000 subscribers and a market share of 50 percent.
