TOKYO-NTT DoCoMo Inc. said it will begin a new service Sept. 1 called Melody Call, which enables subscribers to set 15 seconds of music and voice content as ring tones heard by an incoming caller while waiting for the phone to be answered.
The service is available to i-mode users under two pricing plans. The basic option provides 20 selections, including classical music and voice messages. Subscribers can choose and assign three ring tones to up to 30 different incoming callers. The upgraded plan includes 3,000 additional content pieces from which to choose.
