AT&T Wireless completes swap with U.S. Cellular

REDMOND, Wash.-AT&T Wireless Services Inc. said it has completed a previously announced swap of wireless licenses and properties with U.S. Cellular Corp. covering 15 states and more than 18 million potential customers.

The deal, which was announced in early March, calls for AT&T Wireless to receive U.S. Cellular’s TDMA operations and assets, as well as 25-megahertz cellular licenses in northern Florida and southern Georgia covering 1.5 million pops and serving 143,000 subscribers in exchange for 10- and 20-megahertz wireless licenses in 13 states covering 16.6 million pops, AT&T Wireless’ minority interest in six U.S. Cellular-controlled markets and $31 million in cash.
