WASHINGTON-FCC Chairman Michael Powell said that Tuesday’s Wireless Enhanced 911 Coordination Initiative Roundtable represented “a new era of coordination in the E911 debate.”
The FCC has been trying since 1994 to mandate the deployment of wireless E911 service. The roundtable represented the latest in a series of public meetings on the challenges and successes of wireless E911 deployment.
Powell kicked off the daylong event by saying he hoped the initiative would allow a “new era of cooperation to take root and grow.”
