DENVER, United States-GlobalWirelessNews.com will suspend publication at the end of the month, and all mobile industry coverage will be included in the Web site rcrnews.com beginning 1 May. Crain Communications, the owner of GlobalWirelessNews.com and RCR Wireless News, is suspending the service for financial reasons.
“Although Global Wireless has always been a high-quality editorial product, the mobile industry has not provided the financial backing necessary to maintain the international-focused service,” said John Sudmeier, vice president and publisher of GlobalWirelessNews.com and RCR Wireless News. “Therefore, going forward RCR Wireless News will include all global industry coverage within its print product and online at rcrnews.com.”
RCR Wireless News is the only weekly print publication in the telecom industry and offers daily, weekly and breaking news e-mail alerts covering the wireless industry through its Web site rcrnews.com.
“Global Wireless, an award-winning product, has offered outstanding mobile industry coverage since 1998 thanks to the dedication and professionalism of its contributors based around the world, and it is unfortunate that the economic climate has forced this decision,” said Sandra Wendelken, GlobalWirelessNews.com editor. Wendelken will now spearhead rcrnews.com’s online operations.
