Bayly targets backhaul solution at E911 deployment

LAS VEGAS-Bayly Communications Inc., which manufactures network access and transmission products for telecom companies, said it is deploying its TI Base Station Access Platform solution aimed at helping regional wireless carriers deploy Enhanced 911 services cost effectively.

“In today’s economy, doing more with less has become a fact of life,” said Bruce Friendship, president of Bayly. “For wireless carriers, this can be a hard order to fill, particularly when changes in regulations mean that extra services like E911 must be provided with little additional infrastructure budget.”

Friendship noted the largest operating expense for most carriers is T1 backhaul and most backhaul facilities are underused.

“Our T1 Base Station Access Platform facilitates backhaul traffic in an economical way,” said Friendship. “Rather than use two T1s at half capacity, combining them together and cutting leasing costs in half makes a whole lot of sense.”
