GREENSBORO, N.C.-RF Micro Devices announced the opening of a new design center in Boulder, Colo.
The center, opened as a result of RFMD’s acquisition of Channel Technology, will focus on designing low-cost, highly optimized integrated solutions that support the convergence of multiple standards, including cellular, wireless local area network, Bluetooth and GPS. It will be staffed by former employees of Channel Technology.
Earlier this week, RFMD warned of greater-than-expected losses due to decline in product demand. The company’s stock fell more than 10 percent after the warning and shares of customers Qualcomm Inc. and Motorola Inc. were also affected. RFMD was trading at $5.21 per share by market close Thursday.
