Video interface firm buys Wireless Interface Technologies

SAN JOSE, Calif.-In a stock transaction of undisclosed value, Chrontel Inc., producer of video interface technology, has acquired Wireless Interface Technologies, which has developed radio-frequency transceivers using low-cost Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor manufacturing processes.

These are critical to a variety of personal computer-based applications, including Bluetooth and 802.11, or Wi-Fi. Bang-Sup Song, Thomas Cho and David Kang, the three founders of Wireless Interface, will “now form the core of Chrontel’s ongoing research and product development efforts in wireless interfaces,” the acquiring company said.

The transaction is the first corporate acquisition for the privately held Chrontel, established in 1986.
