LONDON and PARIS-Two European telecommunications companies announced expansions of their GPRS Roaming Exchange programs.
Cable & Wireless said it expanded its service into the Asia-Pacific region by connecting additional operators within the Vodafone Group. Cable & Wireless said it has now connected 30 operators to its GRX and links more than 90 mobile operators worldwide through interconnect agreements.
The U.K.-based operator said it is in discussions with several operators to begin trialing international delivery of multimedia messaging service in 2003.
In addition, France Telecom said it signed its 14th GRX-to-GRX interconnect agreement, and its customers can now access more than 110 operators worldwide. The French company said 11 mobile operators, including the Orange group, are directly connected to France Telecom’s GRX.
France Telecom said its GRX enables its customers to exchange traffic from MMS.
