Pyramid: Latin America to see US$20 billion in 2003 cellular revenue

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina-After having suffered a fall of 2 percent in incomes during 2002, Pyramid Research forecasts that this year will see an increase of 13 percent in the U.S. dollar income of the cellular operators in the principle 18 countries of Latin America, surpassing more than US$20 billion.

“Despite political instability and an economic slowdown in most of the countries in the region, mobile telecommunications continued to be a dynamic sector with positive growth rates in subscribers and local currency revenues in all countries,” said the study carried out by Carlos Rodriguez and Leslie Arathoon.
