NEW YORK-Text messaging interoperability provider MobileSpring Inc., along with partner VeriSign Inc., announced it signed up nine new wireless operators in Latin America and the Caribbean in recent weeks to its cross-carrier messaging service. The company said its interoperability service now covers nearly 50 million total wireless subscribers.
“This is a significant milestone for the wireless industry,” said Mark Caron, MobileSpring’s chief executive officer. “It propels us toward our goal of establishing a global messaging network that enables every mobile-phone user in the world to message with any other user worldwide.”
The move comes as several other messaging and interoperability providers have looked to expand into Latin America.
