Welcome to our weekly wrap-up of everything in the world of telecom software. It was a week of reflection on past victories and financials, as well as looking toward to the future with new codec standards and IPOs. The top story this week was hands-down about Ericsson, which was named the No. 1 telecom software vendor by Analysys Mason. For these stories and more, click the links below.

    • Ericsson named No. 1 telecom software leader by Analysys Mason.
    • Ericsson also released a new report on how smartphones change cities.
    • Subex, a business support systems (BSS) leader, announced its Q3 financial results this week.
    • CommScope became a public company again, but had to settle for a reduced IPO price.
    • Interop Technologies was accredited by GSM Association as a hosted rich communication services (RCS) solution provider.
    • Monolith Software introduced AssureNow Unified Service Assurance Solution to automate service-oriented operations and drive transformation.
    • Gartner Research positioned Comverse as a leader in the “magic quadrant” for integrated revenue and customer management (IRCM) for CSPs – again.
    • JDSU announced fiscal 2014 first quarter financial results, as well as its plans to participate in two investor conferences, which will be webcast.
  • Radisys released a white paper outlining practical steps that allow operators to unlock the benefits of COTS hardware and virtualized applications as they work towards implementing a full NFV-capable cloud platform.
  • NetCracker launched a new platform for service providers this week. Watch a video about it here.
  • Apple’s updated iWork suite for iOS 7 was released to mixed reviews – some feel key features are missing.
  • Telefónica I+D extends Oracle’s PCRF to fixed networks.
  • Thanks to a push from Cisco, Mozilla will incorporate H.264 codec into its browser.
    • Despite this, Google sticks to their guns using VP8, believing it is the best for real-time internet communications.
