AMSTERDAM, The Netherlands-Electronics giant Royal Philips Electronics announced it will acquire Systemonic, which makes silicon products for wireless local area networks, a move Philips said will help the company add wireless audio/video streaming capabilities to its quest to create pervasive connectivity in the home.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Systemonic, founded in 1999, is a private company with 89 employees. The company’s 802.11a/b and g wireless LAN silicon solution is a high-performance, power-efficient chipset to offer wireless streaming audio/video, data and voice in offices, homes and public hot spots.
