OYSTER BAY, N.Y.-The market for advanced computing devices is still staking itself out, according to a new report from Allied Business Intelligence, but it has the potential to increase to $14 billion this year and grow to $32 billion by 2007.
The firm said devices like Tablet PCs will likely meet with more success as vendors work to sell the products as complimentary to personal computers instead of replacing them. Tablet PCs, pushed as the newest and greatest by Microsoft Corp., connect to desktop computers and the Internet through home Wi-Fi networks.
However, ABI said devices like the Tablet PC will also have to fend off advances from other computing devices like wireless personal digital assistants.
