ORLAND PARK, Ill.-Andrew Corp. said its new EOCell RF Over Fiber solutions provide efficient transport of wideband radio-frequency signals over optical fiber.
Applications for EOCell include wireless distribution networks needed for “base station hotels,” airports, campuses, road tunnels, and metro systems, said the company.
“We are extremely excited about EOCell’s potential for cost-effective base station hotelling for both single carrier and shared networks,” said Matt Melester, director of in-building and wireless solutions for Andrew Corporation. “EOCell’s advantage is that it carries much, much more information over far, far longer distances.”
EOCell fiber transceivers can also be used to distribute cellular and personal communications services signals to the Andrew InCell in-building fiber optic distributed antenna system and to Andrew high-power outdoor cellular and PCS repeaters, said the company.
EOCell systems are currently being used in subway wireless access systems in Atlanta, Philadelphia and Hong Kong.
