SAN DIEGO-Voyager Systems Inc., San Diego, has closed a $7.5 million initial round of venture financing, led by Hamilton Apex Technology Ventures that it will use to expand sales and marketing of its secure data transmission services and wireless application development.
Federal agents are currently using Voyager QueryT, a flagship product, in the investigation of the sniper attacks in the Washington, D.C., area, the company said. QueryT provides law enforcement personnel out in the field secure access to information via a high-speed handheld device communicating over any wireless network.
While the company is focused on the public-safety market, Christopher Maloney, chief executive officer, said, “With strategic partners such as ChoicePoint and Motorola on board, Voyager plans to take its products and services beyond government agencies to industry sectors such as insurance, financial services and field services.”
