NEW DELHI, India-Idea Cellular, a leading GSM service provider in India, will shortly launch its services in Delhi using a third-generation (3G)-capable network.
“We shall come into the capital with the most advanced technology and a 3G-ready capability. We promise to far exceed the service standards currently being experienced in that market,” a company official said while announcing that it had reached a subscriber base of 1 million in the states where it is already operating. The company said it is the first to reach this landmark in a non-metro circle.
The launch of the services in Delhi has been delayed due to the delay in a grant of spectrum by the government. Idea will be the third private operator in Delhi. The fourth operator is government-run MTNL.
