Nortel to supply part of Aycell expansion

ISTANBUL, Turkey-Nortel Networks said it will supply Turkish wireless operator Aycell with base stations, related equipment, project management, technical support, training, repair and return, and other engineering and customer services to help expand Aycell’s GSM 1800 MHz digital wireless network.

Aycell’s $94 million deal with Nortel is just part of the $145 million Aycell expects to invest in expanding its network during the next three years. “Our target is 500,000 subscribers by the end of year 2002,” said Fahrettin Aydin, general manager of Aycell. “We will secure this number with high-quality, reliable and value-added services.”
