LAKE CHARLES, La.-Sprint PCS affiliate US Unwired Inc. posted $144.4 million in revenues for the second quarter of this year, more than double the $58.7 million the carrier reported for the second quarter of 2001. Net losses also jumped from $17.8 million last year, a loss of 21 cents per share, to $49.7 million this year, a loss of 39 cents per share. Financial results for this year also included the carriers recently acquired IWO Holdings Inc. and Georgia PCS Management L.L.C.
The increase in total revenues came despite a drop in customer additions from 28,430 during the second quarter last year to 19,556 net subscriber additions this year. Customer churn was reported at 3.4 percent for this year compared with 2.2 percent last year, while average revenue per user including roaming increased from $82.49 last year to $83.69 this year.
